Future Peaceful Portway Events

A big thank you to everyone who was able to join us on 25 September.  It was a great privilege to see so many people enjoying themselves.

Thanks to all those who helped to make the day: Avanti String Quartet, Avon Gorge and Downs Wildlife Project, Avon Wildlife Trust, Bristol Water, Friends of Downs and Avon Gorge, Groundwork South, Gurt Lush Choir, Bristol Man Chorus, Rotary Club of Bristol Breakfast, University of Bristol Mountaineering Club and Art under the Flyover

Thanks to Hotwells and Cliftonwood Community Association, Hotwells Panto and our local BCC Neighbourhood Partnership for funding and admin support.

And big thanks to the well over 3,000 people who simply came and enjoyed themselves.

In 2017 we are hoping to do one event on the 17th of September which we will confirm by the end of March. We are keen to secure, not just the core funding of £2k, but enough to run some activities and support schools and communities in Hotwells and Sea Mills to organise great things for families, such as art workshops and football matches. We have applied for Bristol City Council Community Festival and Event funding and another Well-Being Grant from the Neighbourhood Partnership. HCCA will continue to support and we hope to secure some private sponsorship.

It costs a minimum of £2,000 to put on each day- this covers security, road closure costs, lost children’s provision, publicity and first aid. Some of the volunteers, who already contribute days of their time to organise the event, have also had to pay some of these costs- we can’t let this happen again, so we would welcome thoughts from anyone who might be able to make this not be the last: a gifted fundraiser, someone good at spreading the word.
