Peaceful Portway offers a unique opportunity to put on your activity in the Avon Gorge, without traffic noise. It is an enormous, beautiful and varied location, and we welcome ideas to help visitors get more from their day.
The ethos of the day is for people to enjoy a peaceful, traffic free gorge. Visitors and activity organisers will be expected to make their way there by train, cycle or public transport. Similarly, the gorge should be left clean and tidy at the end of the day – you’ll have to arrange to remove your own litter, so be sure to avoid creating more work for yourselves with physically distributed advertising such as leaflets.
You can put on an activity doing just about anything – exploring the impressive local history and wildlife, activities such as climbing, orienteering, bike rides, circus skills, painting, drawing, photography, or performances such as bands, choirs, and string quartets. Any (legal!) event proposal will be considered, but be aware that our site-permissions licence excludes hot food, funfares, and amplified music.
As a non-profit event, we are unable to subsidise your event. We’re looking for fun, family friendly events – think of the Peaceful Portway as a street party over the whole of the gorge!
